Oaxaca Prosecutor links suspect to aggravated femicide in Xoxocotlán

The Oaxaca State Attorney General's Office (FGEO) has obtained a formal indictment and pretrial detention for an individual identified as J. C. J. O. for the aggravated femicide of a woman in Santa Cruz Xoxocotlán.

According to ministerial investigations, the victim and the suspect had been in a common-law relationship since approximately 2012, a period marked by alleged physical violence, threats, and controlling behavior. The incident occurred in the early hours of October 20, 2026, at a residence in the Esquipulas neighborhood, where the victim was fatally attacked with a knife.

A control judge ruled the arrest legal and ordered pretrial detention for the suspect. The court has established a two-month period to complete the complementary investigation.
