Oaxaca arrests suspect in double homicide in Istmo region
The Fiscalía General del Estado de Oaxaca (FGEO) executed a court‑ordered arrest of a male suspect identified as J. C. D. V. for his alleged role in a qualified double homicide. The killings occurred on 10 December 2024 on the Santa Rita dirt road beside the Pan‑American Highway in the municipality of El Espinal, within the Istmo de Tehuantepec region. According to the investigation, two victims were shot by a group of assailants and died at the scene.
The Vicefiscalía Regional del Istmo gathered sufficient evidence for a control judge to issue the arrest warrant. Agents of the Agencia Estatal de Investigaciones (AEI) located the suspect in the Moderna neighborhood of San Juan Bautista Tuxtepec and transferred him to judicial authorities for further legal processing. The FGEO reiterated its commitment to strengthen investigations of high‑impact crimes and to ensure justice for victims and their families.
