Oaxaca teachers initiate strikes and road blockades

The Section 22 of the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE) has launched a 24-hour strike in Oaxaca, implementing blockades at strategic access points to the state capital. Key locations for the demonstrations include the Benito Juárez roundabout in Santa Cruz Xoxocotlán, the Airport intersection, the La Corona junction toward Etla, and the Pemex area. The union is demanding that the State Institute of Public Education of Oaxaca (IEEPO) fulfill previously signed agreements, specifically regarding administrative processes and the hiring of approximately 9,000 educators.

In a separate development in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, the Oaxaca state government reported that circulation has been restored on the Mitla-Tehuantepec highway and several key routes, including the Ixtepec toll booth and circuits toward Salina Cruz and Santa María Mixtequilla. This follows successful dialogue and conciliation agreements with local residents who had previously maintained blockades in the region.
