Oaxaca to host 2026 Specialty Coffee Convention

The Convención del Café Oaxaqueño 2026, themed "Differentiated Markets and Sustainable Coffee," will be held on August 14 and 15 at the Plaza de la Danza in Oaxaca de Juárez. Presented by the federal Secretaría de Agricultura y Desarrollo Rural (AGRICULTURA) and the state's Sefader, the event aims to promote direct trade, consumption, and the international positioning of specialty coffee from seven of Oaxaca's eight coffee-growing regions.

Officials noted that the industry is vital to the region, generating approximately 314.2 million pesos in economic impact. Approximately 90% of the coffee is shade-grown, which helps preserve thousands of hectares of forest and jungle. The convention will host producers, buyers, roasters, and researchers, and is expected to strengthen the presence of Oaxacan organic coffee in international markets, including cooperation with the embassies of Germany and Canada.
