Oaxaca State Legislature approves municipal administrative changes

The LXVI Legislature of the Oaxaca State Congress has approved two decrees regarding administrative classifications in the Mixteca region, based on the principles of indigenous self-determination.

In the Tlaxiaco District, the locality of Guadalupe, part of the San Martín Huamelúlpam municipality, has been granted the administrative category of Municipal Agency. This decision followed a formal request from the San Martín Huamelúlpam City Council and approval from a General Assembly of Citizens.

Additionally, the legislature approved the political designation of Rural Nucleus for Colonia Buena Vista, located in the San Juan Mixtepec municipality within the Juxtlahuaca District. This designation was also supported by the local City Council and a General Assembly of Citizens.
