Oba of Lagos celebrates 23rd coronation anniversary

Oba Riliwanu Osuolale Akiolu, the Oba of Lagos, has marked his 23rd coronation anniversary. During a special prayer held at the Iduganran Palace, the monarch expressed gratitude for the progress observed in Lagos State during his reign.

In his remarks, Oba Akiolu emphasized the necessity of traditional institutions working alongside the government to maintain societal order, peace, and prosperity. He called on the government to provide adequate logistic support and upgrades for deserving traditional rulers to help them fulfill their responsibilities effectively.

The Lagos State House of Assembly formally congratulated the monarch, with Speaker Mudashiru Obasa praising his dedication to the state's stability. Lawmakers noted his history of service, including his former career in the Nigeria Police Force as an Assistant Inspector General. The Assembly also acknowledged his support for the state during previous periods of financial tension regarding statutory allocations.
