Obakeidoro 2: Chase & Seek slated for worldwide launch on Aug 6 2026

Free Style Inc. announced that its sequel Obakeidoro 2: Chase & Seek will launch globally on 6 August 2026 for Nintendo Switch and the forthcoming Switch 2. The game, first released in Japan in October 2025, expands the original 2019 title with asymmetric multiplayer where up to eight players can face off as Humans or Monsters in three‑minute rounds. Features include online Quick Match, private Room Match, local wireless, split‑screen couch play, and a Custom Rules mode that lets players adjust team ratios and time limits. Pre‑orders are available on the Nintendo eShop, and a trailer showcasing the “scary‑cute” visuals and traditional Japanese‑inspired settings has been released.

The launch targets both Japanese and western markets, with the developer’s director Katsu Tanaka confirming the worldwide release will be supported by Nintendo’s Game Share feature, allowing friends without a copy to join via two Switch 2 consoles. The title is positioned as a casual party game appealing to a broad age range, emphasizing quick, accessible matches and cooperative rescue mechanics.
