Obamacare 2027 open enrollment dates announced
The open enrollment period for Obamacare in the Health Insurance Marketplace for 2027 is scheduled to run from Sunday, November 1, 2026, to Friday, January 15, 2027, according to HealthCare.gov.
To ensure coverage begins on January 1, individuals must enroll or change their plans by December 15. Those who enroll between December 16 and January 15 will have their coverage begin on February 1, provided the first premium is paid. Outside of this window, enrollment is generally only permitted during a Special Enrollment Period triggered by life events such as moving, marriage, the birth of a child, or loss of other coverage. Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) remain exceptions, allowing for applications at any time of the year.
Consumers are advised to estimate their expected household income for 2027 to determine eligibility for premium assistance. While plans may renew automatically, costs and benefits are subject to change, making it necessary to compare plans and prices via the official government website.
