Obayashi Corporation implements AI and 3D modeling to optimize architectural design
Obayashi Corporation has announced two major technological advancements aimed at optimizing the architectural design process through AI and 3D modeling.
The company developed ‘ArchiPALETTE’, an environmental design platform that utilizes the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism’s ‘PLATEAU’ 3D city models. The platform allows designers to predict and evaluate the impact of new buildings on wind environments and landscapes during the early design stages. By combining proprietary big data processing with cloud high-performance computing, the system can perform wind environment CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis approximately 500 times faster than a standard PC, reducing calculation times from months to just a few hours.
Additionally, Obayashi has implemented a generative AI system using the ‘Tektome’ platform to streamline legal research and requirement organization. By integrating public laws with the company’s internal expertise and past legal interpretations, the AI agent automatically extracts critical legal points and documentation. Verification tests showed that this system reduced the time required for legal and regulatory research by approximately 67%, allowing designers to focus more on creative tasks.
