Oberá authorities investigate use of Nazi symbolism at birthday party
Authorities in Oberá, Misiones, have launched a judicial investigation following the viral spread of social media images depicting Nazi symbolism during a 44th birthday celebration. The photos, originally posted to Facebook by the celebrant's wife, showed a chocolate cake decorated with a swastika.
In addition to the cake, images captured a five-year-old child and an adult performing the Nazi salute. The incident prompted significant local backlash and led to two formal complaints. One complaint was filed by a 56-year-old man who identified the child in the photos as his son.
The Juzgado de Instrucción Dos de Oberá has intervened, ordering measures to investigate the circumstances of the event and the extent of the social media publications. The case involves potential violations related to discriminatory acts and the use of Nazi imagery.
