Oberá mother abandons five children after reporting she can no longer cope

A 32-year-old mother in Oberá, Misiones, reported to a local police station that she could no longer care for her five children, stating, “I am saturated, I can’t take it anymore,” before disappearing.

Police from the Comando Sur responded to a residence on Pilcomayo Street, where they found a 15-year-old girl caring for her siblings, aged 8, 6, 3, and a five-month-old infant. The children's 79-year-old maternal grandfather stated he lacked the physical and economic means to care for them. Reports suggest the mother may have fled due to threats from a group regarding unpaid debts.

The Municipality of Oberá's Child Services department has intervened to safeguard the five minors and is determining the necessary protective measures for the family group. The situation is further complicated by reports of previous allegations against the grandfather, which he denies.
