Oberwesel cancels ‘Rhein in Flammen’ due to low Rhine water levels

The ‘Rhein in Flammen’ event in Oberwesel has been canceled due to persistent low water levels in the Rhine. The decision was made just eight days before the scheduled date.

Organizers cited safety concerns, noting that the low water levels prevent the necessary ships and the fireworks ferry from navigating the river safely. Additionally, the conditions would compromise essential rescue and emergency response capabilities on the water. While the cancellation was sudden, the low water levels had been a known issue for some time.
