Obituary discusses potential new studio album

Death metal band Obituary has begun discussing ideas for a new studio album, according to bassist Terry Butler. While no specific timeline or release date has been established, Butler confirmed in an interview with Pod Scum that the group is in the early stages of exploring new material.

Butler noted that the modern music industry landscape has changed the frequency of releases. Unlike previous decades where labels imposed strict deadlines, bands now often prioritize touring and live performances, leading to longer intervals—sometimes two or three years—between albums. He emphasized that the band's creative drive remains strong and they intend to produce new music when the time is right.

Obituary, formed in 1984 in Tampa, Florida, is considered a pioneer of the death metal genre. Their most recent studio album, ‘Dying of Everything’, was released in January 2023 via Relapse Records.
