OBS Studio releases version 32.2.2 with critical platform fixes

The OBS Project has released OBS Studio version 32.2.2, which includes critical hotfixes for Windows and macOS users. The update addresses a bug where plugins failed to load on Windows after an initial launch and resolves a compatibility regression that blocked the application from running on macOS 12.

While the 32.2.2 patch focuses on platform-specific fixes, the broader 32.2 feature set provides significant improvements for Linux users. Key enhancements for Linux include a fix for PipeWire drops when using NVIDIA GPUs on Wayland, restored VAAPI AV1 encoding over WHIP, and improved OpenGL performance for low-end hardware.

Linux users utilizing package managers like the Ubuntu PPA or Flathub may experience delays in receiving the update, though direct .deb downloads for Ubuntu 24.04 and 26.04 are available via GitHub. Other notable features in the recent release cycle include a new dialog for adding sources, SDR to HDR filtering, and improved support for dynamic bitrates in multitrack videos.
