OBS Studio releases version 33.0.0 with major updates
The open-source live streaming and recording software OBS Studio has released version 33.0.0. A significant update includes the modernization of the Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF), which powers browser sources and browser docks. This update brings internal improvements and fixes for issues such as white screens and local network communication failures.
Key technical enhancements include support for NVIDIA NVENC on Windows on Arm machines, enabling hardware acceleration for devices like those equipped with NVIDIA RTX Spark. The software also introduces a restructured plugin management system that distinguishes between core and third-party plugins. While existing third-party plugins will remain compatible until at least version 34.0, users are encouraged to check for updates.
Additional improvements feature enhanced source snapping in the preview window with new visual indicators, better full-screen game detection for game capture, and improved macOS screen capture transparency. User interface refinements include optimized numerical input fields and better handling of NVIDIA Broadcast SDK for audio and video effects.
