Obsession horror blockbuster hits digital platforms after $371 M box‑office run

The 2026 supernatural horror film Obsession, written and directed by Curry Barker, was produced on a micro‑budget of roughly $750,000 yet earned about $371 million worldwide, becoming Focus Features’ highest‑grossing release and one of the most profitable horror movies ever. After a record‑breaking theatrical run that saw strong holds in multiple markets, the film launched on premium‑video‑on‑demand on June 30 across platforms such as Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, Fandango at Home, Google TV and YouTube Movies. An “unrated” cut, restoring scenes trimmed for an R rating, is available on Apple TV. The home release is accompanied by a 19‑minute behind‑the‑scenes feature Obsession Unleashed and an audio commentary by Barker. Physical media – 4K UHD, Blu‑ray and DVD – will be released on July 14 2026. While the digital debut is worldwide, the Indian OTT release has been delayed, though the film has already approached the ₹100 crore milestone in the Indian box‑office. The film’s success has sparked industry talk about low‑budget productions, word‑of‑mouth marketing and shortened theatrical‑to‑streaming windows.
