Obsession grosses $400 million worldwide, streams on Peacock July 17

The horror film Obsession, written and directed by Curry Barker and starring Michael Johnston and Inde Navarrette, has become a global breakout. After premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival on 5 September 2025 and opening in U.S. theatres on 15 May 2026, the movie amassed more than $400 million at the worldwide box office and holds a 94 % approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It is slated to begin streaming exclusively on Peacock on 17 July 2026.

The film follows Bear, a hopeless romantic who uses a mysterious “One Wish Willow” to win his crush’s love, only to face a dark, supernatural fallout. Critics praised its unsettling atmosphere and psychological tension, while audiences drove its strong word‑of‑mouth momentum.

Inde Navarrette, the film’s co‑lead, has spoken about her horror influences, naming four favorite titles, and recently confirmed a meeting with director Jake Schreier about a forthcoming X‑Men movie, sparking fan speculation about her potential casting. The star’s visibility has risen alongside the film’s commercial success, which was highlighted in multiple media outlets across the United States and Brazil.
