Obsession horror film tops global box office with $342 million earnings
Focus Features’ horror film Obsession, starring Curry Barker, has become the distributor’s highest‑grossing release, pulling in $342 million worldwide. The film earned $125.4 million in international markets, including $95.6 million from Universal Pictures International and $217.2 million from North America.
In the United Kingdom it set a record for the biggest 18‑rated release of all time with $20.8 million, while in the Middle East it became the biggest Hollywood horror ever with $14.8 million. In India it posted the second‑biggest Hollywood horror box‑office result with $9.6 million.
The movie opened in North America on May 15‑17 across 2,615 sites, and rolled out to the UK, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Brazil, Australia and France with localized marketing events, festival screenings and fan‑engagement activations that helped drive word‑of‑mouth promotion.
