Obsession horror film's climax explained and director reveals dual Nikki scene

The supernatural thriller *Obsession* ends with Bear realizing his wish for Nikki’s love has turned her into a possessive, violent entity. The One Wish Willow creates an obsessive bond that strips Nikki of autonomy, leading to a blood‑soaked climax in which Bear ingests a large dose of pills, tries to kill himself to break the curse, and dies after Nikki’s final wish for his love.

Director Curry Barker confirmed he filmed two separate takes of the opening scene with Nikki – one showing interest in Bear and another showing indifference – and merged them in editing to keep her feelings ambiguous. The film, written, directed, and edited by Barker and produced by Blumhouse, premiered in U.S. theaters on May 15, 2024, and has grossed over $148 million worldwide on a budget of less than $1 million.
