Obuasi Senior High Technical School headteacher attacked, Ghana Education Ministry orders probe

Headteacher Abdulai Zakaria of Obuasi Senior High Technical School was assaulted by students, suffering a head fracture and being hospitalized at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi. The Ghana Education Ministry, led by Minister Haruna Iddrisu and Deputy Minister Dr Clement Abas Apaak, condemned the violence as "reprehensible and criminal" and directed the Ghana Education Service (GES) to launch an immediate, full investigation and impose disciplinary sanctions on any perpetrators.

Police were deployed to the campus to restore order, with several students arrested. Local authorities are assessing security and have discussed the possible temporary closure of the school while investigations into the assault and the alleged circumstances surrounding a reported fetal burial continue.
