Ocean City enters local summer season after Labor Day

The period known as ‘local summer’ has begun in Ocean City, New Jersey, following the Labor Day holiday. This season, which typically lasts about a month, is characterized by calmer weather and significantly fewer crowds compared to the peak summer months of June, July, and August.

Observations from the boardwalk indicate a quieter atmosphere with less traffic and easier parking. While some local businesses remain open, others have closed for the season, and amusement rides are no longer operating. The beaches are described as peaceful and less crowded, and local activities such as Ocean City High School football practices have resumed with the start of the school year.
