Ocean conservation highlighted by cultural events in Tahiti and Paris
Various cultural events in Tahiti and Paris are focusing on ocean conservation through fashion and festivals.
The 12th edition of Tahiti Fashion Week is scheduled for October 22 and 23 at the Tahiti Lagoon Resort. Partnering with the Tainui Atea marine protected area, the event centers on ocean protection. The program includes the Moana evening, featuring Polynesian designers and a modeling contest, and the Poerava evening, which will showcase local creators alongside international guests. Notable participants include New Zealand Maori fashion pioneer Jeanine Clarkin.
In Paris, the sixth edition of the Ocean Days festival took place from September 27 to 30. Initiated by the eco-responsible surf brand Nomads Surfing, the festival aimed to raise public awareness about marine preservation. Activities included the screening of the documentary ‘The Last Dive’, scientific exchanges hosted by the Oceanographic Institute of Monaco, and a musical event at the Carrousel du Louvre to support maritime conservation projects.
