Ocean Sea frozen prawns recalled in Spain due to Salmonella

The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has issued an alert regarding the presence of Salmonella spp. in Ocean Sea brand frozen cooked peeled prawns. The specific product affected is sold in 200g plastic containers, belonging to lot X1392618BUXX, with a best-before date of 11/2027.

Authorities in Andalusia reported the finding through the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF). Consumers in possession of this specific lot are advised not to consume the product. The alert does not apply to other cooked prawns or seafood products.

Health experts note that while cooking generally destroys bacteria, food can become re-contaminated after the thermal treatment process. This can occur during handling, cooling, packaging, or through cross-contamination with raw products or contaminated surfaces in food processing plants.
