Ocean Way Festival cancelled in Santa Monica due to coastal erosion

The inaugural Ocean Way Festival in Santa Monica, California, has been cancelled just weeks before its scheduled debut on September 26-27. Organizers, Goldenvoice, announced the decision following the impact of Hurricane Marie, which caused significant coastal erosion and storm runoff.

According to ticketing service AXS and social media announcements, the resulting storm waves and beach erosion made the site unsafe for the installation of stages, equipment, and necessary infrastructure. The festival was set to feature a diverse lineup including headliners The Killers, Jack White, Olivia Dean, and Khruangbin, alongside acts such as Sublime and Alvvays.

Organizers stated that ticket refunds are being processed automatically. While the 2024 event cannot proceed, plans are already being discussed to bring the festival back to Santa Monica in the future.
