Oceanco rebuilds Draak yacht for scientific research

Oceanco has completed an extensive rebuild of the 92.9-meter vessel Draak, formerly known as Equanimity and Tranquility, to support scientific research and marine exploration. As part of the Inkfish fleet, the yacht now features a six-person decompression chamber, marking the first time such a facility has been installed on an Oceanco yacht.

The reconstruction, conducted at Oceanco’s Zwijndrecht facilities, involved significant structural changes and new systems integrated into the original platform. The interior was reorganized to accommodate its new mission, including a Chef’s Lab for menu development and training, and expanded accommodations for guests and crew. Owner Gabe Newell noted that the project reflects a focus on optimizing vessels to serve the specific goals and communities onboard.

Following a debut at the Monaco Yacht Show alongside the companion yacht Leviathan, Draak is scheduled to be presented at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show from October 28 to November 1, 2026.
