Oceania rugby leaders convene in Sydney for women’s game summit

Women’s rugby leaders from across Oceania gathered in Sydney for the Impact Beyond Pasifika Women & Girls’ Rugby Summit. The three-day event, hosted at the New South Wales Rugby Union, focused on strengthening collaboration, developing leadership, and creating sustainable opportunities for women and girls throughout the region.

Delivered by World Rugby in partnership with Oceania Rugby and supported by the Australian Government’s PacificAus Sports programme, the summit brought together 33 representatives from 15 member unions. Participants engaged in workshops addressing key priorities such as building player pathways, maximizing visibility, and measuring impact. The event featured a keynote address by World Rugby Hall of Fame member Dame Farah Palmer.

As part of the summit activities, attendees also watched the WXV Global Series fixture between the Wallaroos and Scotland Women at Accor Stadium. A primary outcome of the gathering was the development of union-specific action plans to implement progress across the Pacific context.
