OceanX Summit and World Ocean Council advance marine research and blue economy
The OceanX Summit 2026 convened marine scientists, conservationists, and government leaders in Singapore to discuss marine ecosystem preservation and the integration of oceanic research data. The summit featured prominent figures including oceanographer Sylvia Earle and filmmaker James Cameron. Discussions focused on using evidence to inform protection, the role of artificial intelligence in connecting fragmented datasets, and the intersection of public policy, private-sector expertise, and philanthropic support for marine protected areas.
Separately, the World Ocean Council is preparing for the upcoming Global Blue Finance Summit and Sustainable Ocean Summit in Barcelona. The organization is expanding its Ocean Innovation Hub and evolving its strategy to address new demands within the blue economy. The Council is also conducting research with university teams to enhance member benefits and policy partnership opportunities.
