OceanX Summit 2026 in Singapore addresses marine conservation
The OceanX Summit 2026 was held in Singapore, gathering over 750 participants to discuss the translation of ocean discovery into meaningful conservation and protection efforts. The event featured prominent figures including oceanographer Sylvia Earle, filmmaker James Cameron, and Jill Tiefenthaler, CEO of the National Geographic Society.
Key discussions focused on the role of artificial intelligence in connecting fragmented marine datasets and the importance of immersive education to engage future generations. Leaders also explored how public policy, private sector expertise, and philanthropy can collaborate to support marine protected areas and coastal communities.
Scientific achievements were highlighted, including the Into the Deep: Monsoon Rise expedition. This joint effort between OceanX and the National University of Singapore mapped more than 8,300 square kilometres of the seafloor in the eastern Indian Ocean and collected approximately 2,000 specimens.
