Ocelot Cub Rescued Near Medellín Metro Station in Sabaneta
A three‑month‑old male ocelot was rescued in the municipality of Sabaneta, Antioquia, after being found wandering near a Medellín Metro station. A police officer on Metro duty and nearby workers intervened, securing the animal before two men who were pursuing it fled the scene.
The cub was transferred to the Centro de Atención, Valoración y Rehabilitación de Fauna Silvestre (CAVR). Veterinarians noted it had appropriate weight but showed minor paw injuries and signs of recent captivity. Specialists are feeding it live prey to restore its hunting instincts and plan to release it back into the wild once fully rehabilitated.
