OCESA and Mexico City GP donate trees and compost for reforestation
OCESA and the Mexico City Grand Prix have donated 2,000 trees and four tons of compost to support the 2026 Urban Reforestation Program in Mexico City. This initiative is part of a broader government goal to plant one million trees during the current administration.
In coordination with the Mexico City Ministry of the Environment (SEDEMA), the donation included a planting session in the city's Historic Center. The compost was produced through a partnership with Hagamos Composta, utilizing organic waste generated from OCESA's concerts and festivals. This process aims to integrate circular economy principles by converting entertainment industry waste into soil nutrients that improve moisture retention.
The reforestation program prioritizes areas with low vegetation coverage and high temperatures. Selected species include tepozán, tejocote, capulín, ash, oak, and palo dulce, chosen for their environmental benefits and ability to support pollinators and local wildlife.
