Ocoyoacac family demands investigation into elderly man's death
Family and friends of Marcelo, a visually and hearing-impaired elderly man from Ocoyoacac, are demanding a thorough investigation into his death. They allege that his passing follows years of unaddressed reports of domestic violence.
According to family accounts, Marcelo initiated a special domestic violence lawsuit in 2021 through the Second Civil Court of Lerma. While provisional measures were initially granted, a psychological expert later determined he was not a victim of violence based on a visual assessment without standardized testing. Despite appeals and legal injunctions, authorities concluded that violence had not been proven, leading to the return of alleged aggressors to Marcelo's home.
The family maintains that the violence continued and that subsequent reports to the State of Mexico Attorney General's Office (FGJEM) failed to trigger an effective investigation.
