OCP Group to deploy 400 MWc of solar capacity in Morocco

OCP Group is advancing its solar energy program through the ‘OCP Solar #2’ project, which aims to install 400 MWc of photovoltaic capacity in Benguerir and Khouribga, Morocco. The initiative includes 100 MWh of battery storage to support the group’s industrial and mining operations.

The total investment is estimated at $380 million, supported by a €100 million green loan from the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The installations will span approximately 1,770 hectares. The Benguerir site will host 301 MWc across two phases, while Khouribga will feature a 99 MWc plant. These facilities are projected to produce nearly 876 GWh of electricity annually, reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 639,500 tonnes per year.

This project is part of a broader strategy to increase OCP’s renewable capacity to 1.2 GW by 2027, with long-term goals exceeding 2 GW.
