Octapharma to Invest $1.5 B in York County, SC, Adding 1,500 Jobs

Swiss biopharmaceutical company Octapharma announced a $1.5 billion investment to build its first U.S. manufacturing and production facility in York County, South Carolina. The plant will be located in Rock Hill’s Palmetto Research Park and will include an administrative campus for plasma‑donation operations, with production slated to begin in the mid‑2030s.

The South Carolina Department of Commerce and the Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved final permits and job‑development credits, and the council awarded a $65 million Closing Fund grant to York County for site preparation, construction and road improvements. The project is projected to create more than 1,500 jobs, strengthening the state’s life‑sciences ecosystem and domestic supply of plasma‑based therapies. Octapharma USA President Flemming Nielsen and Governor Henry McMaster praised the partnership and the economic opportunity for South Carolinians.
