Octavia Spencer wins Emmy for ‘Lost Women of Alaska’

Octavia Spencer won a Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Narrator at the 78th Emmy Awards on September 5, 2026. Her win was for the Investigation Discovery true-crime docuseries ‘Lost Women of Alaska’.

Spencer won the award in a category that included nominees Jodie Foster, Werner Herzog, and David Attenborough. The three-part docuseries, executive produced by Spencer and Christina Douglas, examines the murders of Alaska Native women Kathleen Henry and Veronica Abouchuk, as well as the case of Cassandra Boskofsky. The series also scrutinizes the Anchorage Police Department’s handling of investigations within the context of the broader crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous people in Alaska.
