Octavio Ocampo Leads PRD Initiative to Revive Michoacán’s Grandeur
Octavio Ocampo Córdova, former state leader of the Partido de la Revolución Democrática (PRD) in Michoacán, announced he will devote his full time to the party’s new “Grandeza de Michoacán” movement. He has taken leave from party leadership to travel to every municipality, holding meetings with social sectors and focusing on security and agricultural development. The initiative will organize regional forums on ten thematic axes and compile the outcomes into a guiding document slated for presentation in December.
PRD secretary general Verónica García Reyes said the party’s outreach has deepened its connection with citizens, citing Ocampo’s tours and the PRD’s longstanding support for LGBTIQ+ rights. García highlighted the party’s work on inclusive policies, political training for sexual‑diversity groups, and ongoing efforts to address security, employment, youth, animal welfare and citizen participation across the state.
