OCU reports fraudulent use of logo to promote ‘OzemPil’ weight-loss product
The Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) has filed a complaint with the Spanish National Police following the discovery of fraudulent advertisements on social media. These ads use the OCU name, logo, and visual identity without authorization to promote a weight-loss product called ‘OzemPil’.
According to the OCU, the advertisements falsely claim that the organization has evaluated, approved, or recommended the product. The organization noted that the name ‘OzemPil’ seems designed to mimic well-known diabetes and weight-loss medications, increasing the risk of consumer confusion.
The OCU reported difficulty in managing the issue through platforms like Meta, as the fraudulent accounts frequently change or disappear shortly after being identified. The organization emphasized that its official recommendations are only published through its own magazines, studies, and official websites.
