Odenplan undergoes major commercial and transit redevelopment

Major infrastructure and commercial developments are planned for the Odenplan area in Stockholm.

Skandia is set to consolidate its headquarters into a new landmark building at Odenplan, developed by Skandia Fastigheter. The project involves replacing the existing Läkarhuset with a 15-story office building, including 14 office floors, retail, and meeting spaces at street level. Planned for occupancy in 2029, the project emphasizes sustainability by reusing materials and components from the current structure.

Simultaneously, SL has unveiled plans to extend the Roslagsbanan railway to the city center. This extension would include a new station at Odenplan, necessitating the closure of Östra station. The proposal includes constructing new platforms beneath existing commuter train tracks at Odenplan and remodeling T-Centralen to accommodate the new lines. Construction on the work tunnels is scheduled to begin in 2028, with the first tracks expected by 2030.
