Odense Håndbold dismisses head coach Jakob Vestergaard

Odense Håndbold has dismissed head coach Jakob Vestergaard with immediate effect due to disappointing sporting results and a lack of progress toward the club’s ambitions. Vestergaard, a former German national team coach, had held the position since July 2025, during which time he secured a Super Cup and a Danish Cup.

Following the dismissal, assistant coach Mark Strandgaard has taken over temporary responsibility for the team. The leadership change was followed by a challenging Champions League performance, where Odense suffered a 23-26 home defeat against Norwegian side Storhamar.

Managing Director Lasse Honoré stated that the club was no longer convinced the current coaching setup could meet their sporting goals. Despite the loss, Strandgaard has called for unity and a top-tier performance from the squad to rebuild confidence and stabilize the team's foundation.
