Odense Håndbold faces squad shortages ahead of Super Cup
Odense Håndbold faces a challenging start to the season as they prepare for the Super Cup against Team Esbjerg. Head coach Jakob Vestergaard has dealt with significant squad absences, with up to nine players sidelined at various times due to injuries and pregnancies. While captain Maren Aardahl noted that these absences affected training quality, club director Lasse Honoré emphasized the importance of the squad's depth, noting they have 18 to 20 players in the first team.
In addition to the upcoming Super Cup, the team faces a dense schedule with five matches in 15 days. Despite the preparation hurdles, Vestergaard expressed confidence in the team's offensive potential, particularly highlighting the presence of players like Anna Vyakhireva and Markéta Jeřábková in the backcourt.
Reflecting on his coaching career, Vestergaard also shared insights into his history with Viborg HK, where he served as an assistant coach. He recalled significant eras in Danish women's handball, noting the high level of competition and the legendary players he worked with during his tenure at Viborg.
