Odense Municipality updates emergency school policy after zero usage

Odense Municipality is implementing changes to its emergency school in Bellinge after reports revealed that not a single student utilized the physical facility during its first year of operation. Despite costing the municipality over five million kroner annually, the school was intended for 15-day intensive programs for students with behavioral issues, but staff have instead been deployed directly to other schools.

To increase usage, politicians are removing two primary barriers. First, the 50,000 kroner fee previously charged to a student's home school for a program will be eliminated, making the service free. Second, the criteria for admission will be broadened from requiring “grossly transgressive behavior” to simply “transgressive behavior.” These changes aim to assist schools that have previously struggled to access the team's support.
