Odesa and Kharkiv hit by massive Russian missile and drone attacks
Russian forces launched massive missile and drone attacks against Odesa and Kharkiv on the night of August 8–9, 2026, causing significant civilian casualties and infrastructure damage.
In Odesa, the strikes hit residential buildings and infrastructure, leading to widespread outages of electricity and water. At least eight people were reported injured. In the city center, a fire broke out in a four-story residential building, covering an area of 1,000 square meters, and several vehicles were destroyed.
In Kharkiv, the Saltivskyi district was targeted, resulting in at least two deaths, including two men aged 50 and 66. At least 21 people were injured in the Kharkiv strikes, including a five-year-old child. The attacks caused damage to high-rise residential buildings and local parks.
