Odesa car explosion driver killed terrorist attack Ukraine

Two vehicle explosions occurred in Odesa, Ukraine, on 28 July. The first blast struck a car parked in the courtyard of a residential building in the morning; the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) classified it as a terrorist attack and the driver was injured.

The second explosion happened that evening on Nebesnoi Sotni Avenue while the vehicle was moving. The driver, a retired Ministry of Internal Affairs veteran who had been out of service for more than 12 years, was killed at the scene and his female passenger was taken to hospital with injuries. Police have not yet announced a legal qualification for the incident, and traffic on the avenue was disrupted while investigators, forensic specialists and bomb‑disposal teams worked at the scene.
