Odisha anti‑corruption raids lead to engineer arrest and police officer dismissal

Assistant Executive Engineer Satyanarayan Sethy was arrested in Odisha after vigilance raids uncovered assets worth crores of rupees, including 49 high‑value land plots, three farmhouses, gold jewellery, silver and cash. The investigation, conducted by seven Odisha Vigilance teams, found that many of the properties were held benami and could not be justified by his known income. A case was filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018.

In a related crackdown, the Commissionerate Police removed Assistant Sub‑Inspector Rajesh Kullu from service a day after he was caught accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 to release mobile phones and influence a criminal case. Two home guards involved were served notices for termination. Vigilance also seized ₹1.41 lakh in cash during a simultaneous operation involving a forest forester accused of taking a ₹25,000 bribe. These actions underscore a zero‑tolerance stance toward corruption within Odisha’s public‑service institutions.
