Odisha Cabinet approves ₹176.83 crore disaster recovery data centre
The Odisha Cabinet has approved the establishment of a Disaster Recovery-cum-Data Centre (DR-cum-DC) in Kendujhar to protect the state’s critical digital infrastructure. Located at the South Campus of Dharanidhar University, the facility will provide geographical separation from the primary Odisha State Data Centre (OSDC) in Bhubaneswar.
The new centre is designed to ensure the uninterrupted availability of Government-to-Business and Government-to-Citizen services during major site-level disruptions. It will feature independent systems for power, cooling, connectivity, storage, and cyber-security, enabling the restoration of services within approved recovery time and point objectives.
The project is valued at ₹176.83 crore, which includes ₹154 crore in capital expenditure and ₹22.83 crore for five years of operational expenditure. Funding will be sourced from the 5th State Finance Commission Grant-in-Aid and the Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC) maintenance budget. Krystal Integrated Services Limited has been selected as the L1 bidder for the project, which has a nine-month implementation period.
