Odisha launches welfare campaigns for Anganwadi workers and farmers
The Odisha government has launched several major welfare and administrative initiatives. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida inaugurated the three-day ‘Angan Ka Utsav’ campaign, which aims to strengthen nutrition, health awareness, and early childhood development across 74,224 Anganwadi Centres. As part of this, the clothing allowance for approximately 1.48 lakh Anganwadi workers and helpers has been increased from Rs 1,390 to Rs 1,500. Additionally, the state introduced the DIPTI digital platform to automate electricity bill management for these centres.
In the agricultural sector, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi launched the ‘Sambandh’ campaign to encourage farmer enrollment in Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) and Large-sized Adivasi Multipurpose Cooperative Societies (LAMPCS). Under the state's new Cooperative Policy 2026, these societies will act as multi-service hubs providing seeds, fertilizers, banking, and insurance. The government also announced a sugarcane input subsidy of Rs 15,000 per acre for farmers in specific command areas.
Furthermore, Chief Minister Majhi presented appointment letters to 1,101 newly recruited officers across various departments, including medical and administrative services, while emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy toward corruption.
