Odisha deports 42 Bangladeshi illegal immigrants from Bhubaneswar and Cuttack
Police officials in Odisha announced that 42 Bangladeshi nationals who had entered the state illegally were deported between July 2025 and March 2026. The Bhubaneswar and Cuttack urban police districts identified a total of 48 individuals – 10 men, 17 women and five children – and have already repatriated 42 of them. The remaining six are being held at a state centre in Athagarh pending final clearance. Deportations were carried out in coordination with the Border Security Force, using land‑border checkpoints in West Bengal and special chartered flights. Earlier phases saw 26 deportations from Bhubaneswar and 16 from Cuttack. The state government has examined the documents of more than 2,200 suspected persons and reported a total of 73 Bangladeshi nationals deported over the past year.
