Odisha Deputy CM inaugurates training for Child Welfare Committee members

Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida has inaugurated a five-day training programme for the second batch of newly joined Child Welfare Committee (CWC) members in Bhubaneswar. The training, held at the State Institute for Women and Children (SIWC) campus, involves 58 members representing 27 districts.

During the inauguration, Parida emphasized that the “best interest of the child” must be the central focus of all decisions and interventions. She urged committee members to approach their statutory responsibilities with sensitivity, empathy, and dedication to ensure a safe and enabling environment for children. The programme aims to strengthen capacity regarding child protection mechanisms and rights-based approaches for children in need of care.

This follows a previous training session for 78 members. The event included participation from various officials, including the Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Women and Child Development and representatives from UNICEF.
