Odisha DGP reviews law and order preparedness
Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Binaytosh Mishra chaired a high-level review meeting at the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police headquarters to evaluate law and order, crime control, and police preparedness.
With the upcoming State Legislative Assembly session and a three-month festive season approaching, the DGP emphasized the need for advanced intelligence and proactive planning. Instructions were issued to manage potential protests, demonstrations, and crowd control effectively. Special security plans and adequate personnel deployment are required to ensure peaceful celebrations, particularly in sensitive areas of Cuttack.
The review also focused on intensified enforcement of the NDPS Act through the ‘Nasha Mukt Odisha Abhiyan’ (Drug-Free Odisha) campaign to dismantle illegal drug networks. Additionally, the DGP addressed the rise of digital fraud, ordering officers to monitor cybercrimes and identify suspicious ‘mule accounts’ used in criminal activities.
