The Odisha government has launched an intensified nutrition drive through the Odisha Poshan Mission (OPM) to combat malnutrition among children, mothers, and adolescents. The initiative focuses on 18 high-burden districts and includes 23,088 Anganwadi centres, specifically targeting priority ICDS projects, underperforming centres identified via the Poshan Index, and facilities in Maoist-affected areas.

During a high-level review meeting, Chief Secretary Anu Garg directed officials to accelerate implementation using a mission-mode approach. Key strategies include upgrading infrastructure through the Samruddha Anganwadi Yojana, constructing new child-friendly learning spaces, and utilizing the Nutrition Tracker for digital, data-driven monitoring to ensure early detection and intervention.

The program will work alongside the Mukhyamantri Sampoorna Pushti Yojana and provides special support to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) and NITI Aayog aspirational districts.
