Odisha export potential $50 bn by 2029‑30, Exim Bank to open Bhubaneswar office

A study by the Export‑Import Bank of India projects that Odisha’s merchandise exports, which were $10.8 billion in FY 2025‑26 (2.4 % of India’s total), could rise to $14.9 billion under a base‑case, $24.4 billion under an optimistic case, and $50 billion under an ambitious case by FY 2029‑30 if the state’s share of national exports doubles to 5 %.

The export basket remains dominated by metal and mineral products, with aluminium and its articles accounting for 38.2 % of the state’s exports, followed by iron and steel, inorganic chemicals, ores, slag, ash and mineral fuels. China was the top destination, receiving $1.9738 million (18.3 % of exports), with Vietnam, South Korea, the United States and the United Kingdom also significant markets.

Exim Bank Deputy Managing Director Tarun Sharma released the report in Bhubaneswar and announced the opening of a full‑fledged regional office in the city. The new office will provide financing, trade assistance and advisory services to Odisha exporters and MSMEs, aiming to strengthen the state’s export ecosystem.
